Parker Laboratories Showcases Comprehensive Infection Prevention Portfolio at APIC (2025)

Aquasonic®100 single-use gel packettes, UltraDrape® sterile barrier and securement dressing, and Tristel ULT™ chlorine-dioxide HLD foam accelerate safe ultrasound practice

FAIRFIELD, N.J.— Parker Laboratories, Inc., a global leader in ultrasound consumables and infection prevention and control solutions, will showcase several complementary products in booth #913 at the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) 2025 Annual Conference, June 16–18 in Phoenix, Ariz.

Aquasonic® 100 Ultrasonic Gel

Parker’s flagship Aquasonic 100 ultrasound transmission gel—the world standard for more than 65 years—will be featured in sterile and non-sterile single-use packettes. The use of packettes eliminate cross-contamination risk often associated with bulk bottles. Single-use packettes support aseptic technique in vascular access, regional anesthesia, and interventional radiology.

“Standardizing gel to single-use packettes is a simple, high-impact step hospitals can take today to prevent gel-related infections,” said Nancy Moureau, RN, PhD, CRNI, CPUI, VA-BC, CEO of PICC Excellence and co-author of research on ultrasound-guided peripheral IV (UGPIV) practice.

UltraDrape® UGPIV Barrier and Securement

Designed to streamline ultrasound-guided vascular access procedures, UltraDrape offers both clinical and economic advantages in infection control and procedural efficiency. When paired with Aquasonic non-sterile single-use packettes, UltraDrape provides a 4-layer sterile barrier separating an ultrasound probe and gel from the puncture site, ending messy post-insertion cleanup that can compromise securement. In a multicenter evaluation published in the International Journal of Nursing & Healthcare Research, 98 percent of clinicians preferred UltraDrape over probe sheaths, and procedure cost fell by up to 67 percent.

Dr. Moureau added, “UltraDrape lets clinicians achieve aseptic insertion every time while speeding placement for difficult-access patients. Faster, cleaner insertions translate into safer IV therapy and lower costs for the hospital.”

Tristel ULT™ Rapid High-Level Disinfection Foam

For the first time, Parker Laboratories will be sharing an island booth with UK-based Tristel plc (AIM: TSTL), highlighting their collaboration in infection prevention solutions. The companies will demonstrate Tristel ULT, the first FDA-cleared chlorine-dioxide foam for high-level disinfection (HLD) of both endocavitary and skin-surface ultrasound probes. The companies will also show the 3T Digital Training and Traceability platform.

Tristel ULT delivers a validated two-minute contact time, requires no water or electricity, and is now recognized in the updated ANSI/AAMI ST58:2024 standard for chemical sterilants and HLDs.

Momentum for the technology grew at last month’s AORN meeting, where Mayo Clinic reported switching to Tristel ULT in two high-volume urology ORs eliminated probe damage, prevented surgical-site infections, and cut reprocessing turnaround to two minutes across 189 cycles.

“The Mayo data confirm what early adopters are seeing—chlorine-dioxide foam couples efficacy with unmatched turnaround, freeing staff to focus on patient care,” said Connie Cutler, MS, BS, BSN, RN, CIC, FSHEA, FAPIC, President and CEO of Chicago Infection Control, Inc., and an infection prevention and control consultant.
